Stainless Steel Plate/Sheet

What is Stainless steel sheets ?

Stainless steel sheets and stainless steel plates are essential industrial materials known for excellent corrosion resistance, strong mechanical properties, and long service life. As a professional stainless steel sheet manufacturer and stainless steel plate exporter, Haihong Steel supplies a wide range of stainless steel products for construction, manufacturing, chemical processing, energy, and marine industries.

We supply multiple grades of stainless steel suitable for construction, food processing, chemical plants, machinery manufacturing, and energy industries across the United States and global markets. Stainless steel is a ferrous steel alloy with increased corrosion resistance compared to carbon/alloy steel. Metal Supermarkets offers a variety of shapes and grades of stainless steel for sale, cut to size, including 17-4, 303, 304, 316, 416 and 440C.

 Stainless Steel Plate/Sheet

Stainless Steel Sheet vs Stainless Steel Plate

While stainless sheets and plates sound like the same product, they differ in thickness and durability. The difference between stainless steel sheet and plate can quickly be determined by checking the stainless steel sheet gauge; the higher gauge stainless steel thickness, the thinner the metal. Some of the unique features of both SS sheet metal and plate include the following:

Stainless steel sheet:

•Thin stainless steel material (usually under 6mm)

•Easy to form and fabricate

•Used in appliances, decorative panels, machinery covers, and food processing equipment

Stainless steel plate:

•Thick stainless steel material (over 6mm)

•High strength and load-bearing capacity

•Used in pressure vessels, storage tanks, shipbuilding, and structural projects

Both products provide excellent resistance to rust, chemicals, and high temperature environments.

Popular Stainless Steel Grades for Sheets & Plates

Stainless steel 304 and 316 provide durability and corrosion resistance for indoor and outdoor applications. There are, however, a few slight differences between the two alloy grades that you should consider before selecting a material for your project.

304 Stainless Steel Sheet & Plate

304 stainless steel is one of the most widely used grades due to its strong corrosion resistance, easy fabrication, and cost efficiency. It is commonly used in:
• Food processing equipment
• Industrial machinery
• Architectural structures
• Storage containers

316 Stainless Steel Sheet & Plate

316 stainless steel offers superior corrosion resistance, especially in marine and chemical environments. The added molybdenum enhances protection against chlorides and acids, making it ideal for:
• Chemical processing plants
• Marine structures
• Medical equipment
• Heat exchangers

Stainless Steel Sheet & Plate Style Options

We offer stainless steel sheets & stainless steel plates in various alloys, finishes, thicknesses, and lengths for your unique industrial applications.
Standard Stainless Steel Sheet & Plate
We provide stainless steel 304 and 316 plate and sheet in thicknesses up to 1/2” or 26 GA and 96” or 120” lengths. Finish options include #1 finish annealed plate, #8 mirror, 2B, or #4.

Perforated Stainless Steel Sheet & Plate

Our perforated stainless-steel sheets feature a staggered hole pattern with an option of hole sizes ranging from 1/8” to 3/4”. Choose from 16 GA or 20 GA thickness and 48” or 96” length.
